3. Keep it up! That's great!
Remember that week 2 is the worst. That's when the physical withdrawal symptoms show up. I almost got divorced, arrested for child abuse and fired from my job that week. WHEW!

16. Congrats!
My husband is on day 6. He told me he has something he thinks about whenever he wants one real bad: He says he thinks about the big tobacco corporations and how they put all those extra chemicals in cigarettes that help keep you addicted. He had heard that some particular brand adds more than 100 additives to the tobacco! It just pisses him off and helps him stay determined not to be their sucker.

17. I'm so proud of you!!!!!
I know first-hand how hard it is. The only thing I can promise you is that it does get better, but only if you stick with your quit.

I think it's hard in the beginning so that later on when you think you can "just have one" you will think again and remember the difficult time you had at the start of your quit.

You're giving yourself an important gift here. Be happy for that.

www.quitnet.com can be a big help.

19. Yep, Day 3 Is a Major Milestone, Feels Much Better
Edited on Wed Aug-11-04 10:46 AM by UTUSN
For 1 & 2, drink lots of water, juice. MILK, damps down the pleasure of smoking.

And you KNOW that if you fall off the wagon after a few days, that first one is just HORRIBLE, tastes like CRAP, and makes you dizzy. Plus, even starting up again is not the same and is a big let down.

I LOVED to smoke and did it for some 30 years, with breaks of two years off a couple of times. Sometimes I say that if I make it to a certain age I'll just start again because it was a major pleasure.

Water, water, juice, juice. Flush it all out. It's the build-up that gives the craving.

22. Third day is the hump-You are right
I found drinking grapefruit juice to be extremely helpful. I don't know if it was the tartness or the vitamin C. I would imagine Cranberry Juice would work too.
