1. Do you have any pain?
Pinched nerve pain can be spasmodic, moving from here to there.

Right now I am dealing with a pinched nerve on the left shoulder/arm/hand side. It started with pain in the shoulder, then moved downward. I also get the numbness, but it comes and goes. Additionally, the arm doesn't function as normal.

See your doctor. I woke up with the damned thing. Good luck. They are miserable.

6. I doubt it.
But when I first saw the sawbones about this towards the end of June, he did insist on an EGK. I have since had X-rays that showed nothing wrong.

I have been taking muscle relaxers (which make me feel like a stoner) and Vioxx for 6 weeks. The pain is much relieved (though I still have occasions of that), but I still have numbness and pins and needles feeling. Some of that is all the time, other comes and goes.

The next step would be an MRI to pinpoint exactly where the nerve is pinched. The doc suspects the neck.

They often give steroid shots into the affected area to clear these up, physical therapy is another option. Surgery is the last resort.

As I said before, I would see the doctor.

5. Probably a pinched nerve
in the neck area or just between the shoulder blades. That 's usually where it happens on me. A quick trip to the chriropracter usually fixes me up. I go to a guy who uses an "activator" rather than a whack 'em and crack 'em guy. Very gentle treatment that works really well. Seldom need more than one visit.

10. Do you lean on your forearm when you type/work/sit?
Sounds like you pinched a nerve. Do some arm exercises.

11. My numb thumb turned out to be a herniated disc
Several years ago I had intermittent numbness in my thumb. I thought it was carpal tunnel syndrome until the M.D. I worked for told me carpal tunnel causes pain, not numbness. An MRI confirmed a herniated disc with nerve impingement.

Could be anything but you might want to have it checked out sooner rather than later. I waited too long and ended up in surgery.

Good luck.
