Idea for an "I support our troops" sign
I support our troops.
They should be paid a livable wage.
Their benefits should be restored.
They shouldn't be put needlessly in danger.

I don't think there's anything in that sentiment that people would really be able to criticise, but I do think it would irk many republicans.

1. Another possible sign
********************************************************************** SUPPORT THE TROOPS!
BETTER PAY FOR ENLISTED PERSONNEL, NOT JUST OFFICERS.
DON'T CUT VETERAN'S ADMINISTRATION PROGRAMS.
DON'T SUPPORT MISSION CREEP.
**********************************************************************
If you believe in all these things, then vote Democrat in 2004.

7. Dennis Miller once quipped that a Texas liberal...
is somebody who thinks a prisoner getting death by injection should be laid out on a comfy mattress.

3. Let me see if I can help you make sure
that no one will criticize.

What would you say is the minimum needless danger? Cause when you join the military, it is understood that you enter a dangerous profession?

5. OK...
Yes, I agree that the military is a dangerous profession.

I'm trying to get across the point that the soldiers, when they signed up, trusted their civilian leaders not to spend their lives frivolously.

8. The soilder trusts
his weapon, and his buddy next to him. I don't think he trusts civilian leadership to do the right thing.

9. there's no such thing as minimum needless danger

any needless danger is too much.

If you are trying to make the arguement the troops signed up for danger, fine. But they did not sign up for needless danger.
