Herr Bloomberg: I'm off to Haiti for a few, but I look forward returning so I can lead Martial Law during the Republican National Convention in order for Fuhrer Bu$h can enter the city without distraction ... that ought to send historians screaming 'oh, the irony' ... but, it's either that or we evacuate the entire Metropolitan Area ... your choice ... yes, I plan to buy the Presidency ... not sure if it'll be this year or later ... next question ...

Mayor Michael Bloomberg's motorcade roared out of Cite Soleil with its windows sealed tight to keep in the air-conditioning and keep out the reek of Haiti's most infamous slum.

The people lining the rows of ruined cinder block shacks last Tuesday blurred into a faceless mass, but as the mayor's sport utility vehicle paused to attack one final pothole, two teenage boys stepped forward to make their statement.

One extended a middle finger. The other tossed a small stone, which skittered harmlessly between the trucks.
