What do chickens eat?

I was getting worried about them out there, though I thought I saw them scratching up worms at one point.

My neighbor and I have tried bread (some success), tomatoes (okay), strawberries (popular), and watermelon (a big hit with the hen, but the rooster is too macho for it).

Also wild bird seed gets them running right to ya, so there is no doubt they were someone's birds before this.

No chicks as of yet, and the neighbor thinks there won't be cause the hen dropped an egg in her yard, and then both birds broke it open and ate it. (How did this species ever survive? *lol*)

feed store. They will have chicken feed.

7. Except I am not sure how long they will be here. Animal control

was supposed to come get them, but no sign of them as yet. If someone doesn't show up soon, I may just call one of the folks I know who have chickens and see if they want to come a get them. I'm starting to care less that they get back to their original owners and more about the foxes and the coyotes in the woods where they have been sleeping.
