What do you do when you've had a shitty day?
Seriously, what are your favorite coping/forgetting about it techniques?

I don't want to go into any detail, but I had a pretty shitty day. Not as bad as it can get, but shitty nonetheless.

How do you shake that blue feeling, that teeny gray cloud hanging over your head?

1. I try to remind myself of how lucky I am.
There are millions of people out there who have it much worse.

Either that, or I just pout, bitch and moan. :D

Normally the reminding myself of how lucky I am
works wonders. I am a BIG fan of that technique, but it's just not working for me tonight.

The pouting, bitching and moaning thing sounds do-able, though. I think I'll try that.

6. Oh my GOD
my daughter made chocolate chip cookies and we drank chocolate milk (then white milk when we ran out) with them.

It helped a bit. Doesn't this look like heaven?

5. After yelling and screaming and kicking the furniture,
I usually unwind by watching some TV. I also eat some "comfort food" (which I do every day anyway!) Hope your day goes better!

8. Hmmm
if I kick the furniture I need to put on some tough shoes. You know, maybe that's my problem, maybe I just need to get it OUT damnit.

I think I'll go get my pillow and scream in it now.

26. I force myself to get out of the house
do anything...see a movie, go walk around the park, play in the fountain, go to my fav local bookstore and stay out of the political room!, exercise (ugh, only as a last resort, but it works) listen to soul music on a walkman as I take a walk (not as good as being "with people" but sometimes it works), walk in the cemetary (I know sick, but we live very close, its beautiful and makes me thankful I can leave) go to the grocery store and get fixings for a complicated dish I love but don't make often (a complicated dish to me is something with more than 3 ingredients).

Or, rent a movie, make popcorn with butter and lemonade.

27. Bitch and grouse and yell at stupid people all the way home.
Ask the fish if they'd like to play on the floor, and fume all evening, have a good cry and go to sleep.

Hey, you didn't specify HEALTHY coping mechanisms!

Actually, tonight I hoisted my Fuji up into the slings and put the 34-tooth freewheel on it. Then I had to change the rear deraileur to get enough clearance (the 105 rubbed). Then I got out the vintage "GB" randonneur handlebars I had squirreled away, tan cork tape, and new brake cables and set them on the bench for the next session.

But they're STILL stupid people, y'know whattahmean?

39. Thank you. She's a pacific parrotlet.
And parrotlets are only 4 inches tall--making them cuter still. :-)
Parrotlets are parrots native to South America, related to the much larger Amazon parrots.

37. I'm sorry you had a bad day...
What I do depends on the reason for the blues...

1. Men are shits days - a carton of Ben & Jerry's, Chopin on the stereo, cuddles with the cat (if I had one), long talk with best girlfriend & best gay male friend and a bottle of wine.

2. Problems with co-workers/clients/supervisors - go to the gym and sit on the stationary bike and picture the offending person/people in front of me and pedal away... depending on how bad I'm feeling determines whether I'm picturing running over them or just chasing them. It's very therapeutic.

3. The universe has singled me out for her entertainment - a long hot bath with candles, incense and wine. Take-out Chinese food & a mindless movie.

4. Just can't deal with the world anymore - That's where the more ritualized side of my spiritual path comes in.

5. A peri-menopausal day - see #1 and leave out the BGMF and Chopin.
