favorite quotes I have many but this is my new favorite
"I found one day in school a boy of medium size ill-treating a smaller boy. I expostulated, but he replied: The bigs hit me, so I hit the babies; that's fair. In these words he epitomized the history of the human race"
Bertrand Russell

That said I have many more favorite quotes.

7. I seem to recall a science fiction author writing a novel
based on the principles of General Semantics. This book was written in the mid-fifties or thereabouts, I believe. I wish I could remember the author and the book...

10. A.E. van Vogt or Robert A. Heinlein?
In the 1940s and early 1950s General Semantics was used in the Science fiction works of A.E. van Vogt and Robert A. Heinlein. I hope that helps jog your memory.

8. John I am a lover of quotes. Here is my current favorite:
"If you can't be a good example, then you'll just have to be a horrible warning"--Catherine Aird

Unfortunately I think that I fall into the horrible warning category.

9. I had to look up "expostulated"
So that no one else has to, here's the definition from
http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=expostulated

To reason earnestly with a person on some impropriety of his conduct, representing the wrong he has done or intends, and urging him to make redress or to desist; to remonstrate; -- followed by with.

Men expostulate with erring friends; they bring accusations against enemies who have done them a wrong. --Jowett (Thuc. ).
