and I used to bike all the time, working out, and all the freeper-type kids around the block said that I would never be able to get off of the bike, sayin' that I was on my bike 24/7(FUCKING ASS LIE!)goin around the block, so I started tryin'to avoid that by riding in the woods, while they sit on their asses all summer watching porn, playing video games, and all that bullshit. Many , maybe even most of them, will be liberal in idealogy, but they can make your life a living Hell. Most teachers these days call it the "No Child Gets Ahead Act" and will be supportive of you asl ong as you are non-confrontational and are, in turn, supportive of them. Maybve give it a few weeks beofre you wear anti-Bush shirts, until you know the lay of the land? In fact, I'd forego ABB t-shirts alltogether and only wear pro-Kerry gear -- you get more flies with honey.

I remember from my own ninth grade supporting Dukakis in one of the most conservative areas of Texas. Most of the kids let it go, as did all of the teachers. Then again, I was big and on the JV football team, at least that year -- and my friends were those stoners who got kicked out of school in the sixth grade for carrying knives on school property. :D

BTW, I taught eighth grade for the first time last Spring and work professionally w/ truant high school students. Ninth grade is a bitch and a half: the hardest grade you'll have to deal with, in all likelihood. Attend regularly, be nice, even when you don't feel like it, for God's sake wait 'till college to take drugs.
