Heard reference to this Beatles song today. I had forgotten it altogether, looked up the lyrics, and...

Does this remind anyone else of the moron?

4. Huh. If I had to pick somebody

I thought that song was about, especially since you pointed out that it wasn't intended to be insulting, I'd have put five bucks on Mohandas Gandhi, myself. Or, considering the Beatles' affiliation with him, the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. Not sayin' you're wrong -- just that I'd have assumed one or the other of those two before MLK.

Surely didn't mean to take a positive work of art and turn it into something negative.

But as I read the lyrics just a while ago, an image of little bush just came thru, more clear with each line.

6. I've always seen this as Paul's anthem to the misunderstood

The fool in the song is actually a genius--he's the one who sees what's actually going on in the world, but nobody understands him. Bush is more like Mean Mr. Mustard--just a selfish, dirty old bastard. Incidentally, it bears repeating that this is a Paul song--for those who think only John can write lyrics.

They were totally sober and out for a stroll, when some guy came out and remarked what a great day it was. They turned around and he totally disappeared, and Paul found that very odd and significant.
