You're right. The even had the precursor to Sgt. Shultz in that movie right down to the robust physique. I don't know if William Holden won an oscar for that movie but he should have.
An interesting factoid: Robert Clary who played LeBeau was an actual Auschwitz survivor. I went to a lecture by him once, and he was pretty incredible.
Sorry...I have a soft spot for "F-Troop"! From that classic theme to the post-modern, hyper-capitalistic relationship between the Hokawees (the original name of the tribe in the pilot was the Fokawees, as in what the "f*ck are we"?) and O'Rourke and Agarn. Kinda smacks of the whole casino thing goin' right now.
