Both "artists" are intertwined in an early 90s phenomenon called "The Dual Rip-Off". See, both "Ice Ice Baby" and "Can't Touch This" basically rip off much better songs ("Under Pressure" and "Superfreak," respectively) and both "artists" were never able to match the success of their break out hit.

My theory is that the only reason either of them had any success was because they basically re-released a song that had already been a hit. All they had to do was add lame vocals over the tried-and-true music of Queen and David Bowie and a hit was born.

Come to think of it, that's not a bad idea...:evilgrin:

And Boyz II Men was the opening act. I thought they were the coolest thing EVER! (I was 11, the tickets were a birthday gift).

As for Vanilla (Stop, Collaborate and Listen!) Ice, I never had his CD, even though my bad taste at that point in time would have warranted my buying one.

We had a "talent show" and I danced around in my parachute pants with chants of "Go Hammer" while I called out "Stop, its Hammer time!"

5. Never, ever, not ever...

I saw Vanilla Ice during his "comeback" tour a few years ago. This was after he'd turned from a wanna-be rap artist into a wanna-be thrash metal artist. This tour of his, besides a stop that MTV show where they retired videos and he freaked out and started ripping up the set, consisted of stops at small clubs all over the place. He went to one in my old home town, population 15,000. I was there as a guest of the bar owner, a friend of mine, and got to speak to him afterwards.

He's an idiot, in case that wasn't already clear.
