12. Fencing rocks.....
I took 2 six week course in fencing. Lots of fun and you meet some very interesting people. The British Champ fenced at my club.

It's also surprisingly hard physical work.

Have a go. It's great.

17. I'd like to learn to really play badminton
I know how to hit the birdie back and forth pretty well, and when I'm at an event where there's a informal game going I can't help joining in, but I've never learned all the details of truly playing the sport.

Any sport with me sweeping anything with a broom would be welcomed by my wife - she would insist I practice at home so that I could improve my skills.

26. Hang gliding. They do it down the coast a bit in Big Sur
And also here on the Monterey Penninsula at Marina.

It is, however, a very expensive pass time, from what I understand.

27. Half-pipe snowboarding...
has been a dream since it first hit the scene but these 43 year old joints MAY not like it one bit! Also I would have loved to have been young enough for rollerblading.

I did do fencing and archery, which were both fun (fencing was VERY physical) -- I highly recommend taking a course in either. Stage combat is another fun "sport" to do.

30. Snowboarding and skateboarding
Heck, I am 43, too. I have a feeling that I would heal too slowly for skateboarding, but if you fall in the snow it is more resilient than concrete, and you have all those thick clothes on to pad you when you hit the ground--ooooff!
