1. I voted for leaving them as is (hypothermia, dude), but
I have to say that - if they were shaved - there'd have been a lot fewer of them wiped out in the 1800s. I'd gladly go and shave beavers if it looked like the practice of taking their pelts for hats and the like was going to be revived.

Niiiiiice beaver, by the way.

2. Is this Hustler Magazine or National Lampoon?
How low can we go in humor, here, folks? I swear I saw this cartoon in 1979? It's old and it is still a bad joke.

3. trimmed
Shaved is perverted, and pretty damn insensitive to a woman as well.

Au Natural is kinda insensitive to the guy, especially if he goes downtown often.

Keep it trimmed and it's all good.

:)

why do you think that?

4. Oh. You're NOT talking about the rodent,
Castor spp.? Dam. I thought it was irony.

Well, in that case, I don't really care. It's all good. I've never been with a non-hirsute one, though, so I can't really judge from experience. My comments about hypothermia still hold, though in this summer heat perhaps the hairless-chihuahua look is the way to go. I'd try it myself, except I don't even like shaving my face.

25. Trust me, Forrest, it's not a pleasant look
tried it once, part of the rationale being, "Hey this'll look grand, no sprigs means the illusion of grandeur!"

It kinda looked like a waterlogged dachshund by the time I was done.

26. A drowned mastiff!
That does, indeed, sound scary. And I can only imagine the itching that'd follow regrowth, not that men scratching that area is particularly an unusual sight. And there's sure a couple of things - nudgenudgewinkwink - that I'd be at a loss as to how to trim, anyway.

Still, it'd have to be cooler.

But where do you stop? I'm not a particularly furry person, but there's this sub-navel area that's a tad thatched and it'd seem really weird for a man to shave up to there and have a hedge-like demarcation line at underpant waistband level. I mean, where do you stop? The chest? And do I shave my legs, too, just so the dachshund doesn't look so forlornly helpless? A hairier man may as well just dip his whole body in hot wax.

I'd better just continue to let nature take its course....

I hate haircuts, anyway.

Interesting, though, that the poll's overwhelmingly indicating that women should be silky smooth. I wonder how many people would vote for baldness if the gender in question was male.

27. I would vote smooth for guys
I know some men who shave and they like it. Not only does it give the illusion that you're bigger they say they feel more. And that's a good thing.

From personal experience there are some interesting side effects when you have sex with a guy who is shaved. All sorts of skin on skin contact that you never feel with the hair in the way.

Plus, girls really dig not getting hair in their teeth. It all looks much more lickable without the hair.

Just my observations. Your milage may vary.

28. Sure, I can see that, I guess, but
what about when a little bit of stubble starts to appear - wouldn't the bumpy contact he kind of like making love to a particularly hefty stiff-bristled brush, or hedgehog, or echidna. or.....

The shaving would just seem like a high maintenance thing, especially for men (more obstacles to negotiate). Still, maybe the rewards are worth it. I'll take your word for that, for now..... :-)

is part of the fun. Especially if you have someone to "help". But it's fun by yourself too.

36. Where have all the curlies gone..
True confession: I'm an OB/GYN Nurse Practitioner, and I look a at a *lot* of crotches every day. I've gotten used to the weird piercings and tatoos (though that woman with the swastika gave me the creeps), but lately I've been wondering where pubic hair has gone. Have we all reverted to a state of pre-adolescence?

I also see a lot of razor-burn on a part of the anatomy that hurts me just to think about. And as for Brazilian wax jobs - Ouch! Ripping pubic hair out by the roots sounds like something the Spanish Inquisition would come up with. If you have to do this, I'd stick with one of those depilatories designed for the "bikini area". It also wouldn't itch so much growing back in.

Personally, I'm only in favor or a trim if things are really unruly down there, say to the point of looking as if you'd a dead animal stuck in your knickers...

I'm sure *someone* will post that old joke about Tipper Gore shaving her privates. I have too much class to do so, unless - of course - someone insists.

30. It is, indeed, a tough call
I don't even have to shave on a daily basis, but without getting too graphic, let it be said that I have a lush torso.

Nontheless, I think there's a pretty clear demarcation about an inch below the navel. And, beyond that, I clear-cut my perinium (well, there goes the whole "too much information" boundary).

5. For Stephen Hawking
Edited on Thu Aug-28-03 09:31 PM by SOteric
you're too good. But for this you have time?

Back to the subject at ...*koff*...hand; it might be worthwhile to categorise responses according to gender. For example, I'd be interested in knowing whether ladies were more tender-hearted toward the beavers in not wishing them to suffer the trauma of razor stubble, harsh chemical depilitation, or *shudder* waxing, than are the dudes.

8. Stevie's a tad lacking in the furry rodent category, you know
Actually, I've heard that he's quite the ladies' man. 'Lecher' is the exact word that I heard, though. :-)

And, hey, we shave, too! Sometimes. It's horrible. I'm very tempted to go ZZ Top, or Grizzly Adams, or Leon Russell with my face.

Well, maybe on a Saturday night but, otherwise, nope. But I suppose some people are into that sort of thing, and I'd hate to condemn their private behavior....

Wait a minute - this isn't another yak reference, is it? Waxed yak? Great name for a band!

15. I don't have one
The last one got away after years of remaining exceptionally elusive. I suspect that they're very retiring things, in general. I seem to vaguely recall more boisterous specimens, but perhaps that's just the magnification of time elapsed.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

The whole idea of shaving there just freaks me out, nor would I ever want my partner to shave there. Women have hair there, that's how you know they're adults. Embrace the fuzz.

C ya,
