So, I'm going to see Dame Edna in October.
Anyone seen her (his)show? We bought tickets in the nosebleed section of Heinz Hall. I'm looking forward to it - I don't get out much so I'm happy to be dressing up and going to a show.

1. Nope, but saw a wonderful interview with Barry Humphries 2 weeks ago
A very, very funny man, and very intelligent too. It's amazing that the humour is still so good after so much time.

BTW - I'm in Australia at the moment, and they still use Dame Edna for new advertisements over here. Cool.

P.

2. I've always enjoyed Dame Edna's humor,
but I haven't seen her much lately, except for an article in Vanity Fair recently. I seem to recall that (s)he made some comments about Mexicans that were perceived as unkind. I think Salma Hayak wrote in to complain about it. Can't imagine that Barry really meant any harm, tho.

4. If you're lucky...
you'll get to see Dame Edna's alter ego, Sir Les Patterson. In my opinion, just as funny a character as Dame Edna. You're luck that you're not in the front rows, because "Les" really let's the spit fly when he's talking.

The best part about Humphries is that he dresses up his characters and gets them in the news. When our Governor-General resigned earlier this year, Sir Les Patterson turned up at the gates with a suitcase, telling the media that he'd come to take over.

Many years ago, Humphries was banned from an Australian airline because he got a stew of some kind, put it in a sick bag and started eating it with a fork.

You'll love him/her/it.

6. Saw the Dame this year in Hartford, CT
He was hilarious. Kept on referring to people in the box seats as being in the ashtrays. We were in the nose-bleed section, too, so we missed out on the "gladdies" he throws out to the front rows - to be waved around during songs.

You'll love the whole show, we did.

8. So you're one of the paupers!
You are in for quite the show! I have seen her twice, once on Broadway, and once at the Bushnell (in Hartford, also in the nosebleed section), and both times I left in pain from laughing so hard. Enjoy yourself!
