My fear about online banking/other logins and passwords....

...and no, it's not about identity theft.


Every time I log in to DU, my bank account, or any of the other various places I have to enter a username and a password, I have this little fear that this is going to be the last time I'll remember it.

I'm only 35, but I can see the day when I'm no longer sharp enough to keep all the different usernames and passwords in my head straight.

I wonder how old I'll be when I'm like my grandparents or even parents - totally off-line and barely able to turn on a VCR.

Does anyone else ever feel this way about passwords?

Hell, I would use the exact same password & user name on every account if they'd let me, but every one is different - 8 digits here, 5 or more with letters & numbers there...

I have taken to writing them down, or just printing out the email confirmation that they send back :)

I've actually maintained a Word doc that has all my various passwords on it -- it's just impossible now to remember them all.

However, in order to keep the Word doc somewhat secure, I didn't name it "passwords," or something like that. So I often forget where it is!
