Now I've heard something that makes me think the people who made the movie are idiots.

"Robots building robots! That's crazy!"

No...that's the basis for nanotechnology. Wake me up when you have a revolutionary idea, ok?

It's supposed to have the trailer for Christopher Nolan's Batman movie in front of it, right? :)

2. Too bad Will Smith sucks!
Edited on Tue Jul-13-04 12:32 AM by LiberalVoice
I can only hope that one day he plays a different character then the one he's been playing in every single movie he has ever done!

They might aswell call him Samuel L. Jackson Jr!

3. From the trailers it looks a bit
Matrixy for my tastes.
I sure hope they didn't take a nifty story like that and turn it into just another action movie.

4. Yeah, I double-taked when I saw Proyas' name, too.
It's either that good-director-battles-with-big-budget-producers Tim Burton/Planet of the Apes thing, or the trailers are very, very poor.

5. Huh? The basis for nanotech is robots building robots?
Edited on Tue Jul-13-04 01:01 AM by Donkeyboy75
That's YEARS into the future. I'm a scientist funded by a nanotech institute, and that simply isn't an objective right now...

BTW, "I, Robot" was written in 1950, well before the dawn of nanotechnology.

7. actually the original title of this movie was "hardwired"
so they just ripped the title off of the asimov short story collection for no apparent reason actually.

8. That's true, but after the rights to the short story were purchased,
they hired someone to slightly rewrite the script. Really the only thing they took from the short story was the three rules of robotics.

6. I'll re-watch "Screamers" for a good robot-robot scifi flick
Will Smith? Lead actor in a sci-fi classic? Give me a break. That would be like casting him to play James West in a Wild Wild West movie.
