a) this is not a "bunch of garbage that anyone can post"....the garbage in this forum is the most carefully thought-out and expertly-crafted garbage that I have ever seen, or ever hope to see.

b) as for watching talk shows on TV about people problems, in between the yak topics and the occasional risque thread (so occasional that I even hesitate to mention them) there has grown a community here and now and then members of that community feel safe enough to bring up personal issues for duscussion.....that's a good thing, I think

c) the heavier political issues that you feel should be discussed here - and they sometimes are - are discussed within other fora on this site. There're plenty of them - maybe you shoud check out 'General Discussion,' for a start. The Lounge was chartered as a winding-down and socializing place....the kinds of things that you deride are more at home here than is weighty political discourse (not that posting random links is necessarily weighty, political, or discourse).
