OMG, somebody responded to my ad!
2 years of solitude and now I've no bloody clue!

He's an extrovert which means he'll be able to hold up a good deal of the conversation, but I don't want to give the impression that "it's all about me" (that's a habit I picked up from mum - which isn't bad, I like listening to her stories so it really isn't all about me, is it?...)

2. Whoa, need some background here...
1) What gender are you?

2) Why have you locked yourself in for 2 years?

3) What did the ad say?

4) Are you going to wear sweat pants on your date?

4. In chronological order:

1) What gender are you?

The last time I checked, I'm a male.

2) Why have you locked yourself in for 2 years?

Because I'm stupid and painfully introverted when it comes to socialization, I have to hide behind a computer - pusillanimous me... :-( <on edit:> On the plus side, it was 2 years before I met my ex, so maybe this is all a matter of recursive timing...

3) What did the ad say?

That'll make you wonder...

4) Are you going to wear sweat pants on your date?

Of course not! For the same reason I never wear blue jeans, it makes the imagination too redundant for my liking...

6. Well thank you...
I had a friend who was a recluse and it took an intervention to get him out of sweat pants.

Good luck. Now you just need to break up with the computer. That should be easy, all you have to do is turn the monitor towards the wall so it doesn't see you cheat.

7. LOL!!
Oh, I see what you mean about sweat pants! Don't worry about that, when I'm at my computer I'm only in my underwear...

You're an awesome person for helping that friend out of his reclusiveness!

5. Good for you and good luck!
I may be a hetero female, but I'm also a never-married single in my late 30's, so I have some idea of what you're going through! Just take it easy and be yourself (I know that's hard when you're nervous), and don't get too pushy or expect too much on the first date. Of course, that way, you also won't be disappointed if things don't click, lol!

I hope he's not a freeper, though, because all the single guys around here are either mega-freepers, wingnut fundies, or RW nutballs. GGRRRRRRR!!!

8. Thanks!
His profile said he 'leaned left' politically, so that won't be too much of an issue, I hope!

As far as I'm concerned, he's met all the criteria for somebody I'd want to look for, now it's just a hope we click in some way or another! Fortunately he's an extrovert...

9. Oh, my...
You wouldn't by any chance happen to be bi, would you? (I am, why not you?) ;-) ;-) ;-)

Pardon me; I'm a sucker for a great line, and "as tedious as a sardine pot pie" rings my chimes. That's a simile with swing, and a metaphor with moxie! (Pardon me again; I'm also a rhetorician...who happens to be killing herself laughing.) My rhetorician self also likes the fact that you refer to "speaking HTML," which is a usage I've been trying to inculcate in others for years. :)

Anyway, please PM me with your real name or a better alias so I can attribute the metaphor properly in my Fortune File. Or not. Anyway, you definitely have something that someone should be interested in, so don't give up! I bow in undisguised admiration!

/me applauds
