13. heh.
he wouldn't like it in Tampa Bay. it's a liberal/progressive stronghold especially my town - St Pete. Pinellas Co. has a well run local Green party organization. there were lots of *GASP* nader votes in this area. also DU's favorite socialists, ShakeyDave and JanMichael live across the bay in Sarasota.

7. there is an unpacking rule
Edited on Tue Aug-26-03 03:39 PM by ChesWickatWork
if you don't unpack it for a year, you don't need it and should throw it out. That's the rule!!!!

Good luck in your new place, you are living right next to some of my favorite places. Make sure you visit the Ancient Spanish Monestary on sunday so you don't have to pay to get in. But if you do, please put some money in the collection plate. Imagine me singing on a sunday morning and say a special thank you from me for some of the best times of my life spent with friends and family there in that church.
Then check out the local theatre scene. I miss some things about Florida very much.

28. You just brought back some memories
I went to church a couple of time at that monestary, up by Grenalds Park.

Anyway, lot's of fun stuff to check out. The Venetian Pools, Viscaya, Dania Beach, Tobacco Road, the Red, White and Blue Store in North Miami for a real cultural experience. Lot's of great and cheap Cuban resturants. Take a run down Card Sound Road to Key Largo, if you have time go the rest of the way to Key West, be sure to stop at the Seven Mile Grill in Marathon. What ever you do make the best of a really crazy place and have a good time.

14. welcome
as an aside for s floridians, I work in the broward library, was doing some work in the theater and saw a reservation on march 3 that said only 'Presidential Debate'. Given that we've had politicos in the theater before (Reno, Jeb, etc), and that the third is the day after super tuesday primaries in Cal. and elsewhere, and that the following tuesday is fla primary, it makes sense to me that if the race is still close at that point then I may get the chance to meet the next pres. I could be wrong, no one knew any details in the theater and this could be something like a student gov. debate. Just thought it was interesting, anyone know anything about future debates?

all in this calendar year http://www.democrats.org/news/200306280001.html
so most likely it's a mock debate with students, as you say.

I did many many shows in the broward County library theatre. Some of my best times where there. Let's see, Assasins, Nine, I directed Something's Afoot, I stage managed Joseph. One of my best friends had a memorial service there after he died of AIDS..... that room has powerful memories for me.

19. Carlos, why did you move to Florida?
I expect you will be active in the campaigns down there in '04 to help the dems carry Florida (again) in the presidential race and keep the Senate seat. Good Luck in your new state.

Not sure where you are at but the state sucks if you are not right on the beach (and even some of the beach communitys are pretty awful).

I really cant stand the thought of living in Florida.

Edited on Tue Aug-26-03 07:48 PM by FlaGranny
the DC area, is the clear and beautiful skies year round in Florida. No more gray days for you. I still enjoy the clear blue sky and tropical-looking clouds after many years. Also, from November until April, you will enjoy the 6-month long spring, if not the traffic it brings. If you've never been here before, the beaches will blow you away. It's also one of the best places to be in the world if you like golf

Moving can be such apain in the ass. Say hello to my in-laws, won't you? (They're both democrats, so don't be afraid.) My mother-in-law and her husband love it there. My father-in-law (whom she divorced) is a raging right wingnut who still lives in Wisconsin. Enjoy! :)

32. Here's an idea...
Go to Little Havana to the Cafe Versailles, order a cafe cubano and let anyone of those anti-Cuba wackos within hearing distance know about your democratic views. Those gusanos will kick your a$$ all the way down Calle Ocho. You will then have experienced democracy, Miami style!!
