Why did you pick your Avatar? (The inside scoop!)
Edited on Tue Jun-22-04 11:58 PM by neoteric lefty
Well, mine is of... let's see.... hmmmm..... oh yeah, its of me. Maybe I have some sort of self-delusion towards my outward image. Maybe I just think I am sexy. Either case, I like it! :)

What about you?

Also known as the "dying Lion of Lucerne", which is carved out of sandstone in a cliff. It symbolises all the dead Swiss Guards slain in the 1792 Paris storming of the Tuileries.

I'm just a history nut.

27. Ms. IQ
What are you doing to upload the avatar? Is it hosted on a website somewhere?

If so, Right-click on the image and select "properties."

When the "properties" dialog box opens, click your cursor ONE TIME ONLY at the beginning of the path (address of the image listed on the "properties" dialog box.)"

Drag to select the addpress; make sure you get the ENTIRE path to the image.

Switch to DU's "Options" screen; paste the path to your image in the avatar section.

Click OK (or whatever) to get out of DU's "options" screen.

Edited on Wed Jun-23-04 12:19 AM by ironflange
Actually, Mrs. Ironflange is sort of a Beethoven descendent. She is a very fine pianist, and while a teenager had a very old man for a teacher for several years. He, while a young man, took lessons from a teacher who, in turn, had studied with Carl Czerny. Czerny was once a student of Beethoven. Four degrees of separation, not bad.

As for my sig line, I'll be glad when the election is over and I can change it.

33. Jimmy Carter is the president I most admire in my lifetime
I believe he is a visionary and has done so much good, winning the Nobel Peace Prize for bringing together Anwar Sadat and Menachem Begin, many years after this occurred. He has been trashed, especially recently during the Reagan funeral. Carter was most largely responsible for the end of the Cold War and the fall of the Soviet Union, not Reagan. Carter imposed the Grain Embargo, which brought down an already shaky Soviet economy. People have forgotten this. I am positive that Carter will be vindicated by history.:-)
