Couple of scares right now: please send your best thoughts, prayers, etc.
My mother told me yesterday that there was a blip in her mammogram and that she has to go for a biopsy. I guess she's expecting the doctor to set this up with the surgeon over the next week or so. Obviously this is a little scary for all of us.

Also, my best friend Sandie (she's like a sister, even), who has been battling ulcerative colitis for several years now, had to have several biopsies done on her colon. She will get word from her doctor this afternoon.

Please send whatever karma, good vibes, prayers, etc. to us all, but mostly to Mom and Sandie.

Thanks.

1. Consider the good vibes sent your way.
Keep positive thoughts and keep thy chin up. Both will need your help if the news is not all good.

2. Don't think the worst
I've just been through the same thing with my mother. About a year ago, her mammogram showed a lump. It was tested and was cancerous. She went right in for surgery to have it removed. She went through six weeks of treatment, which she tolerated well (and my mother does not tolerate anything medical very well), and just last week at her check up, her doctor declared her cancer free.

Don't be despondent. It's very treatable and extremely survivable if caught early.

5. I know
The wait for the pathology report on the biopsy is the worst! My wife had breast cancer two years ago, and we've been thru it all. The good thing is, she had a mammogram and has most likely caught it early enough. The odds are in your favor. Breast cancer now has an 85% survival rate. My wife had a huge tumor removed, along with both breasts, and she has been cancer free for two and a half years.

I know you will have a lot of questions, and the best place to get them answered is here...

Ask women who have been and are going thru the same thing. It helps.
