1. Really?
So it doesn't suck as much as it looks like it does? Wow! I may have to see it after all.

6. If someone wants to cast a funny cameo,
Why not cast the Nimoy? I'd rather see that.

5. This movie was effing hilarious
They got everything right. Everything. Damn funny. When the ESPN "Ocho" commentator says "It's Two One, ese!" I almost pissed myself laughing. Not only was this a very obscure reference to the early 90's movie Colors, in which the gang members are constantly saying "Two One, ese," it is also a perfect parody of the ESPN/sportscaster-style, which draws off street talk and obscurity for its cleverness (don't get me wrong, I think the ESPN/sportscaster stylistic is one of the most creative going). That's how micro-funny this movie is. Every line, every gesture, every plot movement shows real comedic talent, and there are a lot of little pearls strewn around: you probably won't even catch them all the first time. Smart, smart writing, and grerat execution.

7. thank you
Gary Cole is so dead pan, he should always do comedy. how about the dodge ball instructional film? Kids take a moment away from that lead paint.

10. The only Ben Stiller movie I want to see is "Meet the Farkers"
The sequel to "Meet the Parents": with Al Pacino and Barbra Streisand as Stiller's parents. :-)

11. The advert's sufficient. It reminds us of American mentality and comedy:
That being hit in the crotch (or head) by a lot of big rubber balls is funny.

Is the movie more than the advert, whose one trick gimmick is to show people being hit in their good areas with objects?

12. Y'know what?
Seeing people hit in the head and crotch with objects IS FUNNY. Seeing people fall down stairs IS FUNNY. Moreover, it has always been funny. Read up on your Aristophanes, or the prevalence of the pratfall in English Renaissance drama, including Shakespeare. And while there cannot be a one-trick gimmick, I'd argue that there is a lot more going on in Dodgeball, which uses a variety of comedy styles, and often hits each perfectly. Is it a silly loser-prevails comedy. Yes. But it's a nice variation on that theme, and often hilarious - even when it's just new ways to hit someone in the crotch with something. I think Dorothy Parker's funny too, and I'll bet Dorothy Parker thought watching a guy get bonked with a wrench once in a while was hilarious.

14. It's not Python, it's not Mel Brook's

It's not a merchant ivory production comedy of manners. It's a silly, stupid entertaining movie. If you would like to have fun for 90 minutes than go see it, if it's just too low brow for you than skip it.

15. when i was in high school
we played dodge ball or what we affectionately called "murder ball" at least twice a week during the winter. it was basically the jrs and seniors "murdering the sophs and freshmen ,so the first two yrs i got killed-knocked out trying to get a ball loose from a 225lb running back-then the next 2 yrs it was payback. now my high school no longer plays dodge ball. and yes it was balls and heads, anything else didn`t really count...
