5. I haven't been to Standee's since I was a kid.

On edit: That means about 40 years ago. There was another greasy spoon down there, whose name I can't remember lo these many years later.

6. Standee's seems like it's been there for 100 years. An Edgewater fixture.
I have such a fondness for it. I know the other place you're talking about...don't know the name of it, either, though.

11. Alexander's up at Clark Street is good, too.
I've also been told of a place on Ravenswood down around Balmoral maybe that is supposed to serve up a great breakfast. Can't recall the name.

10. Welcome to DU. Wish I'd thought of that for breakkie
but I don't think I have any decent jam in the house, and I am not a fan of grape jelly on anything but a PBJ.

12. Ovaltine, straight out of the tin, with no milk mixed with it. Pure O'.
It tastes more like chocolate plain than mixed with milk. I'll drink the milk separately. It's all the same vitamins in the end. It also all comes out the same way in the end. :-)

19. you should use butter or the instant cofee will just fall off the Triscuit
butter will 'glue' it in place.
