Can someone recommend to me a good Gin?
I have a friend who really likes her martinis, and her birthday is coming up. Since I don't know jack shit about gin, can someone clue me in as to what's good and what's bad? Thanks in advance... :D

I would be thrilled to receive a bottle of Bombay Sapphire and I enjoy gin.

4. I'd second that
very smooth - makes a wonderful martini...unfortunately, gin makes me feel like I've been hit in the head with an ax, so I can rarely enjoy one.

No question. They don't call it a Tanqueray and Tonic for nothing.

9. So many! Plymouth is excellent. Tanquery 10, very floral. Hendrick's is
verrrrry cool. It's scottish, and if I remember correctly (too lazy to walk downstairs and even make sure i have the name right) has cucumber in it. Pricey, but tasty, and it comes in a really cool looking bottle that looks like old fashioned medicine.

Bombay Sapphire is a great suggestion, tho. But Hendrick's has the coolness factor you can only get from small batch rarities. (Hey, who knows if you could even find it..!)

Plymouth is said to be the original martini gin. Tanqueray 10 is in a cool art deco looking bottle.

I recently did a gin tasting of the above gins and a couple more lying around the house and....wow, were we bombed by the end!

13. Bombay Saphire, hands down!
Makes a killer martini. How to add Vermouth to a martini:

1. Pour tiny bit of Vermouth into jigger. Swirl vigorously.

2. Pour Vermouth down drain.

3. Pour gin into jigger in appropriate measure and pour into shaker.
