Yes. You have a butt-tattoo. You're SOOOOOO original!
So I pissed off a coworker today. She insisted on showing me her new tattoo which was the lower back/high ass type. It was a butterfly. I said "Wow. You're probably the first person to think of that, aren'tcha?"

Don't get me wrong, I really love body art, whether it's tattoos, piercings, brandings, scarring, etc. I find them very interesting and beautiful most of the time.

That said. I'm fucking sick of the lower back variety of boring-ass tats.

Great. You got a butterfly/dolphin/rose/squid/Bob Dole tattoo on your ass that everyone can see because you're wearing lowrider pants in a pathetic attempt to fit in with your neighbor Ramona. Wow. You must be a real rebel!

Ugh.

10. I'm nice to her every day, Sue.
Yeah, so I still feel kinda bad about being mean to the poor girl. I apologized and she forgave me. We're still friends. I was just having a bad afternoon, and her tattoo was poorly done and uninspired and I told her the truth. Had she gotten something cool (like YOU have) I'd have fawned over it. I just get sick of "followers" sometimes.

17. Problem is, tattoos are permanent
So what good does it serve to make her feel bad about her crappy tattoo right after she got it? She's going to regret it soon enough. Slamming her for it just seemed kind of cruel and not like you.

23. You're right, of course.
It's NOT like me to slam anyone. (Stop knowing me so well, wouldja!) She and I are still friends and will continue to be. I didn't comment on the bad art, but I was disappointed in her choice. She's usually a lot cooler than that, so I was surprised. I asked her why she chose a butterfly, and she said that she saw a cute one in the "book" that the hack-of-an-artist had.

8. I really hate that doily looking tattoo above the butt
It looks like they've been given a wedgie, and it certainly doesn't add anything to the female body. And the tattoo around the belly button? That one looks like an anus. To those that have it, I suggest getting an identical tattoo, directly on top of the first one, only in flesh tone the second time.

I think it's absurd and close-minded to judge somebody on what they chose to spend their money on. If it's something that makes them happy then what's wrong with it. It's good to know that you don't judge people based on looks or anything.

22. I disagree.
I like tattoos. I think they're quite beautiful when they have some meaning or artistry. I just don't care for most fads, in what ever form they're presented. This particular one sucked artistically, and it has been done to death.

Maybe I'll get one that says "MOTHER" or a nice skull with a snake slithering out of the eye socket. Or maybe a cool dagger!

16. There is no point on the human body that SOMEBODY hasn't tatooed
Case in point, I have a sun tat on the top of my head with the picture of a beautiful naked woman lounging in the outline of a flaming star, a remnant of my younger and rowdier days. It's hidden by hair today, but I dread the day that baldness strikes and I have to explain it to my kids.

My wife has a tat in an even more unmentionable spot

32. LOL, I'm not shaving my head to take a pic of it
You've no doubt seen pictures, and maybe even tats, of people lounging on a crescent moon, hammock style? My tat is a variation on that, except the woman is lounging within the circle of a rayed sun. It's actually kind of pretty.

It was originally supposed to get the sun on my head, with matching tats in various phases of the moon (also surrounded by nymphs) on the backs of my hands, the tops of my feet, and on my navel (the full moon). I didn't have the money to complete the other five right away, and lost interest by the time I did (which was a good thing, in retrospect).

maybe I just don't like rebels.

Now that they're common they seem much cooler to me.

Maybe I've just lightened up, though. I almost always have a positive reaction to body art now, whereas 10 years ago I would almost always have a negative reaction.

39. I have one there
But it's an original that I designed myself with meaningful (to me anyway) symbols. My complaint about tattoos is when people get designs and symbols that they have no idea of their meanings or their origins. I took me 2 years to research and design mine. It is permanent and you'd better be sure the design and/or symbol you put on there doesn't mean "I'm a rabid butt muncher" in some far off culture, ya know what I mean? you know the type "See my new tattoo?" "Yeah what does it mean?" "um, I don't know something like peace or something like that. I thought it was cool looking."
:eyes:

I had mine put there so, it would be seen only when I want it to be seen. Only problem is, once you start getting tattoos, it's hard to stop!

41. I've regretted my tattoo for almost 30 years now.
It was a rebellion thing. My mother decided that I was incorrigible, and that she would send me to live 4 states away with a father I'd only met a couple of times to "show" me. So he could teach me to submit to authority, or something. And get me away from the boyfriend she didn't like. (I was 15. I still do not submit to authority.)

My 19 year-old boyfriend took me to his friend the tattoo artist on Van Nuys Blvd., and he tattooed a bluebird on my shoulder. With the boyfriend's name beneath. The boyfriend followed me across the country, and came back when my mother asked for my return. We were married for 10 years after I graduated from high school. When the marriage ended, I had another tattoo artist cover the name artistically with a branch.

For years I carefully made sure all shirts and blouses totally covered the tat; it would have been considered "unprofessional." Now it's tame.

Thirty years ago I was still not the first person to tattoo something stupid as a form of rebellion!

It just looks cheap. I'm not saying that's right, it's just the way I feel about it on a gut level. Same thing with pierced noses. Looks ugly. Like they've got a big metal booger hanging out of their nose. Ick.
