I found out that I have just been admitted to Graduate School.
The only two things that concern me now are getting the loan straigtened out and I have to take a couple of classes in order to graduate from this program as well as what is required for the program.

God I hope this all works out. I hope that I find some decent employment and internships as well soon. I hope the financial aid works out and I hope to God that I graduate from this program and get a job after I graduate that reflects my skills and experience and that I don't get my butt burned doing it.

3. Congrats
Keep looking for internships, ta's, assistanceships etc. They're out there but you've got to dig deeply.

My son starts grad school in the fall and landed a great assistanceship and scholarship (tuition).

Best of luck to you! :toast:

6. Applied Mathematics with an emphasis in Statistics.
Many people that take carreers in Statistics have at least a Master's (which is what I am going for) and I have heard that carreers in Statistics are on the rise through at least 2008.

10. Congrats
Congratulations!

I know what you're going through. I've been approved for loans, but I'm still waiting to get all the paperwork done, mostly so I can use the loan money to buy a shiny new computer :D

I'm going to grad school at Florida State. Master of Science in Information Studies.

11. Here's the best advice you will ever receive
about graduate school. Take it from one who knows: DO NOT LEAVE CAMPUS WITHOUT COMPLETING YOUR THESIS OR DISSERTATION. I did it, and while I eventually got a masters out of it, it was hell on earth. When I went back for a Ph.D., I completed the dissertation before I accepted a job. It took an extra year on campus, but it was worth it.

Good luck

13. Congrats!
That's great news fellow Democrat and DU member. If you get the money situation squared away, it should be the best time of your college life. Perhaps some Graduate Assistant positions might be made available to supplement your income?

Unless you're a shameless brown-noser, a lot of the pressure is off from your undergraduate experience. Although you have to work hard it's in your chosen field. If you love your field, it's heaven on earth ... well, until finals' week. Below's some goofy humor (cartoon) a friend gave me when I was fortunate enough to score a slot at SDSU.

And above all, if you want "the least grief" at completing your thesis, identify your Thesis Chair and shamelessly suck-up to him or her like there's no tomorrow. LOL (but oh so true!)
