I just saw Battlefield Earth on TV. I am speechless.
I'll never again be able to watch Independence Day and laugh at its silliness. The bar has been raised.

The story... the dialogue... the plot... it's... it's... so BEAUTIFULLY bad... it's almost like... a RELIGIOUS experience! Yeah, that's it!

L. RON HUBBARD IS GOD AND JOHN TRAVOLTA IS HIS PROPHET!!! I WANT TO BUY 20 E-METERS!!!

1. I love Independence Day!!!
It is a great movie. It is silly and has a lot of cliches but still.

3. But it's a success! Not at worthless, painful waste of time. Nope.
I've seen Travolta on interviews discussing how much of a "win" Battlefield Earth is. After all, it made $100 million. :eyes:

To be fair, it is a winner. I think it won all of that year's Razzie awards.

4. My name's ronzo and I sat through Battlefield Earth...
Had a friend who was into the Hubbard's sci-fi stuff, and I actually read the first book (fifteen years ago I guess), not bad.

But, this film is gawdawful. Sure, someday Travolta might look back and laugh, but man...

8. I liked to go to the movies but
Jack Valenti and his Gang of Copyright Nazis say they hate me, so I hardly ever go anymore.

9. That was us! Couldn't believe how bad it was. I think it must be the
WORST movie ever. But I loved Independence Day. Just to think of the world uniting like that made me feel so good for a few moments. Of course it didn't last....

10. And, the funny thing is...
... after paying Scientology tens of thousands of dollars, when one has finally reached highest level of awareness, you get a peek at the absolute truth of that, ahem, religion, and guess what? It's the script for "Battlefield Earth."

There ought to be consumer's alert to all Scientology members to just wait for it to show up on cable and save the fees....

12. I wathed it TWICE in the theater
Edited on Mon Jun-14-04 11:42 PM by BigMcLargehuge
it was so bad I had to make sure I didn't dream it. How's this for trivia, the version your saw on TV was BETTER than the one I saw in the theater. The DVD and TV edit is very different from the cinema version. Three scenes were cut and two or three added.

Rat brain! Read my exhaustive review here:
