Yesterday I went to Shabbos services at the Chabad
House in St Louis. It was interesting but not nearly as charismatic as I expected. It was the normal orthodox Jewish service, except they do go faster on the repitition of various prayers than in other synagogues. For that I was grateful.

Also, after services they served Chinese Cholent...It was DELICIOUS!!!!

Cholent is a stew that is started before the sabbath begins on Friday night. The burner is left on low and the stew aloud to cook overnight. It is very good and Chinese cholent is better.

3. Ahhh, Chabad......

So one time I'm in the office of a Chabad house, and I've got nothing to do, so I'm making a Christmas card to send to some Jesus freak friends. I get a call from the Rabbi, who is frantic because he just got busted riding in a stolen car and wants me to put his signature on a check to bail him out.

Just then my mother phones and asks what I'm doing. I go, "I'm sitting in the Chabad House office, making Christmas cards and forging a check to bail the rabbi out of jail."

5. Chinese Cholent? Who knew! I could never get over the look of
cholent. I used to go to Shabbatons (weekend retreats over the Sabbath) in Silver Spring, MD and the stuff looked unappetizing to me. I'd take the choice of cold cuts. Chinese Cholent sounds interesting, though. A little kreplech with it, and you're good to go!
