Yo - Seattle! This is Florida calling - we have your weather!
Yes, it's the latest in a vast string of rainy days in what used to be the Sunshine State. Don't get me wrong - I love rain and we have had such horrible droughts the last few years. But this is the weirdest weather year we have ever had - and I have lived here almost my entire life.
Have we so totally trashed the environment that we have done irreparable damage? Are the gods just ticked off? El Nino, La Nina? Any theories? Is EVERYONE'S weather broken this year?
Carol

1. um...
June thru September is dry season in Seattle. Doesn't rain much at all these months.

Now if you said you have Seattle's February weather, well maybe... but then it would be 45 degrees where you are too.

Seattle has more cloudy days than any major US city, but for rainfall? NYC, Philly, Detroit, and Chicago have more rain than Seattle.

But hey, stay dry! :-)

2. Are you sure it's Seattle's weather? With all the rain we've been having
every day, I was beginning to think that we were somewhere in the United Kingdom or Ireland!

I started painting the outside of my house in June, and I haven't been able to finish it because of all the rain...

Still, having lived thorugh so many droughts and so many summers where there was always constant threat of wild fire (not to mention the summer of '98 when the whole friggin state was afire), I, too, welcome the rain. And that is despite the fact that when we got four inches of rain in less than a half hour two weeks ago, one of the rooms of my house was flooded. Sigh, still cleaning up that one. Wet carpet anyone?

3. Plus...
Seattle is having its driest summer since 1951, which is attributed to the return of El Nino, which brought some hot dry summers there in the mid-90's.

I guess having lived in Seattle for 15 years, I tend to be ever vigilant against the rainfall myths.

Now, the Olympic peninsula west of Seattle DOES get a lot of rain.

4. You got that right!
I invited the whole neighborhood to come over Friday night and see Mars. Instead, we got rain, rain, and more rain. Grrrrr...

5. it is the worst......
Ive been in Gainesville for three years now and this is by far the worst. It rains about 3 times a day on, on average. This isnt what summer should be like.

6. Bite your tongue
I've been in Gainesville for *twenty-five* years, and I offer prayers of thanksgiving for the rain!

At least when it's raining it's not 100+ in the shade, and I can touch my steering wheel without getting second degree burns.

Summer here sucks.
