Who here sticks to GENUINE ink cartridges rather than doing the refill bit

For me, I have to buy the genuine ink cartridges using the vibrant and ultra-durable UltraChrome pigment inks. The generic stuff is pale fade-in-a-day rubbish by comparison.

1. I buy the real thing
...mostly cuz I figger it's better, and cuz i don't want to damage my printer and void any kind of warranty.

2. I feed Epson-Toner to my Minolta
It takes a little work with a cutter, but is almost half the price and still branded.

3. I refill
I have a cheap printer, and the cartridges are really nothing but a plastic box with a sponge inside. NOT an exact science. Inject some in, shake, seal the hole, print.

NEVER had a problem. Never replaced my printer cartridge. Refill it once a week. Total savings @ $17 per cartridge - $884 per year. So what if you fuck up a printer. How much was your printer?

4. Well, my printer is $700...
And whose ink longevity outlasts every other inkjet on the market by about 30 years at least.

So even if there was an OEM UltraChrome equivalent out there, I wouldn't buy it.

5. Generic Ink = Problems
I have both H-P and Epson printers at home and I have had nothing but trouble with generic refills. On the H-P the text smeared constantly, and the printer kept claiming it was out of ink, even with a new generic refill. With the Epson there is just no comparison. The Epson ink is waterproof, and after 30 minutes it never smears. Better than H-P

6. I buy the generic ones from ebay. Fantastic!
I used to do the refill bit, but it always got messy. I switched to buying generic ones on ebay cheap. Never had a problem.

7. Just upgraded my daisy wheel printer
to a dot matrix, but am thinking about upgrading to a thermal paper printer in the near future. Yes, I'm kidding. I don't print all that much but have always used genuine Epson cartriges. I saw an interesting hack recently that uses an external ink supply (in quart or gallon jugs) piped directly into the cartriges. It looked a bit hokey, but it might be worth checking out. Something has to be done, the printer companies are raping us.

8. I use generic cartridges I buy on ebay for a couple of bucks...
I I bought my Epson Photo 700 in 98 and it still works like a charm with the generic ink. B&W cartridges for $1.99. Color for less than $5.00.
