How to become a political journalist
Does anyone know anything about this career? I will be a senior in HS next year..and Im going to go to the University of Florida and major in journalism...could one get a job with a Florida paper right out of college? Ive already been writing alot...one of my articles ran on DU, I write sports articles for a website and I write for my school paper...

Anyone know anything about this subject?

Thanks!

1. Two routes
1. Continue on your course, get trained, and cope with several years of writing about town meetings and bake sales until you earn your wings;

2. Start doing it now, write once or twice a week, and give your work away to every website you can get an address to. Get published this way, which allows you to write about what you want to write about.

I did #2, and it took five years for it to become a paying job.

I saw this and my first thought was to tell him to go ask you. :)

And hey, those townhall meetings can be lots of fun. Lots of little old ladies who know every nuance of the Rules of Order. And at least with bake sales there's cookies. :)
