4. We always called him the

Stupid Man. The reason we referred to him so mildly was that my oldest daughter was a toddler during the first years of his presidency.

We did not want her picking up colorful language at such a tender age. Whenever we saw him on TV, we referred to him as the stupid man.

One day, she came running in to tell me that Sesame Street was gone, and the stupid man was talking. She was crying because the stupid man pre-empted her show.

During his first election, my husband was in the hospital with a nasty compound fracture of his leg. I drove from the courthouse to the hospital to the courthouse again with his absentee ballot for Carter. I had to be really firm to get an absentee ballot for him in the first place, because he had not applied for one ahead of time.

I remember sitting in his hospital room with my daughter on my lap. We were so disappointed that voters in this country were so blind.

That is funny. We have a toddler now, and we call Dubya a "stupid guy" for the sake of our young one. And now sometimes when he gets very mad he calls dad a "stupid guy". That is the worst thing he knows to say.
