2. donna know why
but that first Shrek movie really "got" me.

Even though I never eat boxed cereal, I almost bought one that had Shrek as the cover. Seen it?

That commercial moment made me wonder about the connection of the subliminal bullshit in my mind.

Maybe it was nothing. Maybe I really wanted to eat boxed breakfast cereal for the first time ever. Maybe I just really liked the movie. Does everything have to represent commercialism?

3. Yeah! I saw it today too! (mild spoilers)
What a riot! The cat was great, I loved the "Alien" bit. So many sight gags, like Farbucks (one across the street from another), Gap for Queens, etc.

4. Yup
I REALLY cracked up over Pinocchio becoming a real boy for a second, then his utter disappointment when changed back.

And that cat STILL cracks me up just thinking about it. And I really liked the "Sir Justin" poster of Justin Timberlake in Feona's bedroom (Cameron Diaz is dating Justin in real life).

5. Puss was the best character by far
Absolutly hillarious. So many jokes are there, I need to see it again.
It's funny, I never thought I would like the first Shrek, but damn, that movie totally took me by suprise. It was very well written. The second one may be a bit rough in some spots, but that's my only complaint. It's still easily one of the only movies this year (aside from Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind) that was worth the price of admission.

6. Agreed
I thought it was smart, funny, and just as good for adults as for kids.

I want a lot more Puss. I hope he gets own movie.

7. His own movie?
I don't know if I could handle that :) I might keel over from laughter. Seriously, Banderas was *perfect* for that role...

8. wasn't he?
I'd love to see a whole Puss movie. He's the best animated character I've seen in a very long time.

10. Oh GAWD!!!!

That did it. I wasn't going to reply to any of these love/hate Shrek threads, but seeing that just did it.

I LOVED this movie, and I LOVED Puss-N-Boots. I don't care who knows it. I could get overly critical and complain about a few particulars, but I sat in that theater, with my daughter, and I laughed and laughed and laughed. When we left, my daughter and I talked about it, and we laughed some more, and we both agreed that PnB was one of the best characters ever.

Nobody can resist those eyes.

I agree... I haven't laughed out loud at a movie that much in years. And I mean just straight out guffawing.

14. Puss in Boots was my favorite. Especially when he wants to come
with them so he does the big, dark, cat eyes thing. That and the self licking was hysterical.

My kids were cracking up. It was just as good if not better than the first.

17. Just a little tossaway joke
when Donkey is passed out from a potion, Puss says "let's shave him!"

There's an ongoing rivalry between the two to be the funny talking animal sidekick.

Good idea, satirizing Hollywood and fairy tales together.Makes for good fun

how 'bout when they got Pinnochio to lie?

I thought John Cleese was the best character.
