I Have to Clean My House Today & I'm Procrastinating
The parental units are coming for a visit tonight, so I have to play the "we don't really live like this" game and clean the crap out of our stinky, messy home. And I don't wanna! :P Waaaaaaaaa!!!!

1. And you've discovered what a Useful Tool DU can be
for procrastination. I need to join a therapy group or something.

3. DU is therapy
A somewhat dysfunctional and occaisionally twisted therapy, I'll grant, but therapy none the less. If I didn't come here to bitch about the present regime, I wouldn't be fit to live with.

4. Good point
Is it possible to need therapy for too much therapy? What a basketcase!

I'll have to ask my sister. She's a therapist.

2. Just think how good you will feel when you get it done
Even we fat lazy, messy, dirty slobs enjoy living in a clean home once in a while! ;-)

5. I love having a clean home
But more likely, I'll feel like shit when I'm done. I just found out I have asthma and was told dust and mold are big triggers for me. I'm going to go to the drug store and buy a dust mask before I start.

The good thing is, my new asthma drug jazzes me up quite a bit, so I'll be more energetic than usual. Ah, it's the little things that make life worth living! :-)

10. How soon can Mighty Maids be there???
You can sit back and read a book while they work.
Now that's cheap therapy.

7. I've been putting off cleaning my apartment...

...since about 1999. Suffice it to say, the place is a bit grungy by now!

8. Come sit by me.
I'm suppose to be going to the Post Office, getting a haircut, then coming back here to clean. Yup. Me too. But you know what, I can't see the house when I'm facing this screen. Neil Young's Greendale is on the CD player & I'm listening to the blistering lyrics. Somehow, I think it's time well spent.

12. Sounds like my kind of day
At what point do I get to pour myself a glass of wine while I procrastinate? 10:30 AM is just a little too early, but I can sense it's gonna be one of those days where wine is a necessity.

11. While you're at it,
can you dust and vacuum my bedroom? The rest of the apartment is clean, I took care of that last week. Oh, and don't forget the ceiling fan - how that thing gets so dusty, I'll never know!

I'd really appreciate it - thanks!

13. I saw a "we" in there...
where the heck are the other occupants while this cleaning needs to be done?

No one should have to clean alone. It just ain't right.

16. The hubby's at work
He and I work reverse schedules (he's days, I'm nights). He's been trying to help out, but he's not very good at seeing dirt, if you catch my drift. But at least he tries.

I can't even get off my lazy butt and go to Walgreen's. What's wrong with me. Do I really only work well under pressure?

21. That's me!
2 hours before my house NEEDS to be clean, I will assume the role of the Tasmanian Devil and clean in a whirling dervish of Swiffers, sponges and vacuum cleaners. I am that way at work sometimes too. The pressure seems to give me good ideas.

22. I think I'm addicted to the speed
At work I do everything so fast (restaurants tend to be like that) that I can't stand to slow down and take my time at home tasks.

Now why I don't clean like a maniac now and sit back and enjoy the rest of the day is another story probably only understood by a mental health professional! :-)

26. What kind of pots and pans did you get
I'm a Calphalon gal myself. :-) I didn't know that cooking could be so easy until I got my set. It's amazing how you don't burn anything when the heat is uniformly distributed.

29. Stainless steel
Don't know the brand without looking, but they're a step up from the cheapo aluminum ones I had with the Silverstone coating I used for 10 years as a bachelor. :-)

36. Hey lady, you lady cursing at your life....
You're a discontented mother and a regimented wife
I've no doubt you dream about the things you'll never do
But I wish some one had talked to me like I wanna talk of you…

Ooh I've been to georgia and california and, anywhere I could run
I took the hand of a preacher man and we made love in the sun but I ran out of places and friendly faces
Because I had to be free
I've been to paradise
But I've never been to me…
