OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) -- Gold Glove third baseman Eric Chavez will be sidelined for at least six weeks with a broken bone in his hand.

Chavez was hurt in the 11th inning of Oakland's 6-4, 12-inning win over the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday after getting hit by a pitch from Damaso Marte.

I'm fickle and can no longer stand to follow the Mariners this season, so the A's are my team for 2004.
