I just found a treasure trove of old family photos! Here are a few.
I’ve spent much of the holiday weekend excavating the apartment in preparation for my upcoming move. Today while going through my closets, I came across a treasure trove of family photographs and decided to share a few of ‘em with my friends at DU. Aren’t you thrilled?

My grandfather’s family, circa 1920. Grandpa is the youngest in the picture (by a wide margin).

My father and I, 1967 and 1996 respectively:

Here I am in 1984, graduating from high school. I was still thin and had a full head of hair!

And here I am in 1986, about to embark on the biggest mistake of my life:

3. I would suggest
you subscribe to a free web site service (like geocities)and post these photos perminantly. I'm a genealogist and have done this with family photos. I've found lots of cousins who were appreciative of having access to photos of family members, and have met many cousins of long lost relatives that way.

6. Awwwwww, don't you just
look soooooo cute in your military uniform? :bounce: :bounce:

I love finding and looking at old photos. Isn't it amazing how different we all look from our high school pictures? I look back at mine and wonder if it was the same person, lol! Which grandfather was that, btw, paternal or maternal?

7. That was my dad's father in the 1920 photo.
At least, my guess is that it was taken circa 1920. My grandfather was born in 1907, you see.

8. That's a wonderful picture.
Isn't it neat to look at really old photos of very old or deceased family members when they're young? My mom's family has a lot of old pics like that, and they're fascinating. Those are great pics of you and your dad, btw, you can sense a closeness.

9. I'll have to post some pics of my mom and her family, too.
Sad to say, though, my dad's family always struck me as more colorful than mom's. I guess that's because dad's family came here from Italy in 1916 and held on to their "wopness," while mom was born into your typical white-bread American family that had been here for generations. Also, dad's family was in Connecticut while mom's was in Massachusetts. Consequently, I spent a lot more time with dad's relatives and got to know them far better than I did mom's.

My fathers side of the family is getting into geneology. I haven't been much of a help yet but I do repect old photos and family heritage.

You look a lot like your father.

13. Great photos. I love the old family photo.
A great shot of an old Italian family. I wish my family had more old photos like that; we don't have many. Although I once saw a photo of my father's family when he was only a few years old: he had longish hair and wore short pants, and the weirdest thing is he looked just like me when I was around that age.

17. That's Bud Cort, the star of "Harold and Maude."
When I was in high school, we saw "Harold and Maude" in a class I took called Techniques of Comedy. Several of my classmates opined that I bore a remarkable resemblance to Bud Cort. Now, DUers, y'all can judge for yourselves!

19. Yeah, he sure does look
like him there, doesn't he? I remember seeing Harold and Maude about 22 years ago, back in high school.

That's a neat pic of you in high school, honey-just look at all that thick, luxurious, dark hair!!!

Ducking and running for cover!

22. my husband had that kind of hair too
Edited on Tue Jun-01-04 10:52 PM by tigereye
why do men have to lose their hair? Why oh why oh why. It seems very unfair. My theory is that they need their hair to attract us and then it goes away and they all shave their heads and grow goatees. But those are cute, too.

PS Harold and Maude is one of my all-time favorites films. I love Ruth Gordon in that! :hi:
