Poll question: Full Screen or Wide Screen?
Christ.... some people!
I had some friends over last night to watch a movie (DVD)
We watched it on my 21" computer monitor...anyway 2 of them wanted to watch it "Full Screen" and I couldn't make them understand that they're only seeing part of the film when viewed at Full Screen...

What do you prefer?...

PS: We watched it Wide Screen (It's MY damn Screen) :)

3. Pan n' Scan viewing makes me nauseous.
I can't deal with having somebody work a lever back and forth trying to find the right frame to cut out. It just gets me feeling sick.

5. A friend of mine used to manage a video store
There were people who would actually return widescreen tapes and demand their rental fee back because the full screen wasn't filled. That's like sending your meal back because the plate wasn't completely covered with food.

6. Widescreen!

You get all the material!

Full screen either crops the scene horizontally or, worse, stretches it vertically. :puke:

Of course, TV should remain 1.33/1. I hate it when they put in the bogus matting, as they did for the V miniseries. :puke: That chopps off vertical sections. Vertical area may not always be as important, but it makes adding in the matte a tedious process unless you do a blind laydown of the matte edges, in which case some scenes are going to look pretty dumb...

9. Movies? Widescreen.
Most TV shows? Fullscreen.

You should always watch something in the aspect ration at which it was intended to be watched.

10. It's almost like an acquired taste
I make my friends try it over and over again, and after awhile they don't even notice anymore. Once you hook them, there is no going back.

12. Widescreen or bust.
I too used to work in a video store and suffer angry customers who thought they were being somehow cheated by letterboxed framing. I had to draw little diagrams to explain what was up, but even that didn't always work. I think the phrase "aspect ratio" causes certain people's brains to shut down.

14. Widescreen for DVD's
It took a little time to get used to watching the 2.35:1 movies, but I've watched enough of them so I am now. 1.85:1 seems almost like watching fullscreen anyway.
