These kinds of bumperstickers (crude remarks without any political or other purpose besides insulting the world at large) began appearing in the mid 1980s, and I see them as a symptom of the increasing rudeness and meanness of our society.

(I'm referring to the bumperstickers in the original post, not the political ones.)

And the one about "Welcome to America... now speak English" is a Freeper favorite, especially beloved by people who would start screaming if they were ever forced to live their lives in a foreign language. The immigrants who aren't learning English are the ones who are working twelve hours a day. Their children will most likely have an American accent in their ancestral language, however. That's the way it's always been, legends to the contrary.
