JM Tosses Imaginary Grenade at "Whoop-Whoop Woman"
Hey all!

Last night my wife $ and I went to PNC Park with the boys and my sister Larlo and brother-in-law Gekko

The Pirates were coming off a double-header victory against the Cubs Friday night. The Pirates have a dismal home record, but Rob Mackowiak had a career weekend. His son was born at 9AM Friday, and Mac Daddy wound up with a bottom of the 9th, two out Grand Slam to come back for the win in game 1. In the second game, he hit the game tying homer in the bottom of the 9th. Craig "Mullet Man" Wilson hit the game winner in the 10th.

Fast forward to last night. One of my boys got a ball courtesy of a Cubs fan. The Cubs fans in our section were really cool for the most part, and this guy got a ball from a player during batting practice and just handed it over. My other son caught one thrown into the stands by Tyke Redmon. I had one go off the top of my glove (tough to jump in tight seats), and a homer went into the stands about 5 seats to our left.

Next, my youngest came back to the seats from a food run screaming that someone autographed his glove, but he had no idea who signed it. Turns out it was Manny Sanguillen, one of my fav players from the 70s who works at the stadium.

Last, we had the tractor trailer driving mom (wearing the SNL "Mom Jeans" no less) in the front row who was just too obnoxious for words despite only having 1/2 a beer. We also had a Cubs fan right behind us who would do the "whoop-whoop" thing every time the Cubs would do something. Cubs batter gets on base? Whoop-whoop. Cubs batboy shags a fould ball? Whoop-whoop. You get the picture

Everyone around us was annoyed. I think Whoop-whoop finally got the hint when I told another fan she was lucky the Bullet my wife was drinking was liquid...

faith in baseball is temoprarily restored...

1. Nice story, JM - the Bucs are having a good run right now...
Manny Sanguillen! Nice to hear he's still around. I loved that guy behind the plate...good times.

2. Can we not have military weaponry imagery, please?
Especially during Memorial Day weekend?
