That are inspirational or uplifting....hmmmmmmmmm...why is that?

Obvious answer.

And if they do make them about cons...it rarely touches on their politics.

2. I'd like a t.v. movie made about pseudo-conservatives.
These are the Americans who are registered Republican because it was hip to trash Democratic social programs and minorities in the 80s & 90s; and because it was good for business prospects. The target t.v. family is college educated, living in Long Island, member of a country club. Dad commutes to Wall Street every now and then, but mostly he makes his money by falling into cushy jobs offered by people at the country club. They're usually short-lived because the jobs provide quick rewards until the financial product he sells gets regulated. Mom embraced the liberal life in the 60s, and is very tolerant of her own boys doing there own thing, but now she dresses in expensive casuals that make her look like an expensive, colorful handbag from Martha's Vineyard. She enjoys cutting down black people or hispanics, but only in a subtle manner; and thinks her life is the ideal, even though she's so disconnected from politics that she'll only vote for Kerry because it's becoming a trend among her country club friends, and, Kerry, afterall, is one of them: rich and won't give away too much to those undeserving lazy minorities.

Well,it's a work in process. I'd call them the Anti-Huxibles.

4. I will have to think about that.
I can not think why that would be so. Also I got thinking this. Republicans used to not be for war and now they seem to be the war party. How would one fit that in? If you are a liberal are you for war or not for war? Look at our history in WW1 and WW2 just for one thing.

6. In the 10 years there'll be a *Bush bio-pic
paid by the GOP, which will show *Bush, as a 6'4" muscular commando, running around Afghanistan and Iraq with a minigun, slaughtering 30,000 Republican Guard/Al Qaedia single-handedly.

Iraqi Boy: "Great President, you saved our village by destroying it".
Bush: "People love freedom".

After which, there'll be a final shoot-out with Bush and Osama in Bin Laden's hollowed-out mountain complex.

7. They Never Make Movies
Edited on Sun May-30-04 07:40 AM by Crisco
that are uplifting or inspirational in the first place, anymore. You have to appeal to the imagination to do that, and that's just too risky for Hollywood. The US entertainment industry on the whole has worked to dull, not stoke our imaginations.

LotR was the exception that might break the rule, but I'm not counting on it.

I'm actually more hopeful about the current young generation of movie makers than those who were calling the shots from about 1980 forward. In the past few years, there's been a resurgence of creative film-making, some of which has been highly successful (Memento, Moulin Rouge, Matrix (1st one), on a level not seen for decades.
