13. She won an Oscar for .....
'Evergreen' from 'A Star is Born'. She wrote the music and Paul Willams wrote the lyrics. She also wrote "Two People" from 'Nuts'.

8. Paul McCartney, Elton John
Well, Paul had John and Elton had Bernie, but they wrote and sang some pretty good songs. Voice, music, and lyrics that still give me chills after well over twenty years of listening:

Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown)

Daniel

(I' sure there are better examples, but these are the two I listened to recently. Over and over.)

16. Obligatory Elvis Costello
post. What can I say this man is truly a treasure. A very literate lyricist, great muscian and talented singer. Has my vote hands down. I just read Maragret Cho's excellent commentary on EC. I should add that 20% Amnesia is also a great song, about people that would vote for a party that has horrible human rights record in order to save a few quid(this is from memory about what the song was about, but you get the point).

Radio is a sound salvation
Radio is cleaning up the nation
They say you better listen to the voice of reason
But they don't give you any choice
'cause they think that it's treason.
So you had better do as you are told.
You better listen to the radio.

I wanna bite the hand that feeds me.
I wanna bite that hand so badly.
I want to make them wish they'd never seen me.
