as someone who has no use for Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Studdard . . .
Clay Aiken, Justin Guarini, or any other "American Idol" or AI wannabee, I must say I was somewhat taken by two recent appearances by first season AI loser Tamyra Gray . . . I watched the show that year, and she was by far the best singer of the bunch . . . which meant, of course, that she was booted . . . two years later she's released her first CD, and apparently wrote all but one of the songs herself . . . the one I heard was pretty good ("Raindrops Will Fall"), and I'm anxious for amazon.com to post clips of a few others so I can decide if it was a fluke or if she might actually be someone worth listening to . . .

1. like you........
i haven't watched since the first season, when tamyra lost, but just out of curiosity, i visited the AI website to listen to fantasia's new song "i believe", which was written by tamyra gray. i liked it. i won't be watching american idol (much more important things to do), but i was just curious to hear what it sounds like. i just wish i could get my family & friends to be as worked up about the upcoming presidential elections, as they are about some pop idol, who will likely fade into the abyss (like kelly clarkson) in a very short period of time.

2. To me, Fantasia sounds like Nell Carter.
I loved Nell Carter's personality.

3. yeah...i loved nell too....
but, i didn't get a nell vibe from fantasia. she actually has a great voice, i especially liked her rendition of "summertime". but like i said, i won't allow myself to be dragged back into that whole AI crapfest. i get too emotional when i like or dislike something (like bush*), so i just try to spare myself the agony, especially if it's something as inconsequential as the future of a "pop idol".

4. I ALMOST agree...
I have no use for a smelly Clark Bar and a Reuben sandwich.
