"24" fans check in- what was your opinion of the finale? **Spoilers***
I thought it ended on a strange note. No real cliffhangers, other that what will happen to Tony. Palmer withdrawing from the race did not surprise me at all.
I was pretty sure that 24 would end with Jack getting in one last fix in his SUV, then overdosing- making you wonder what will become of him in the future. I thought it was poignant enough though, seeing this pillar of a guy breaking down in tears.

1. Well that was a hell of a day..LOL
I looked at my wife at the end and said, do you realize where this guy's been the last 24 hours... At least Kim didn't get kidnapped this season although she came close. I definitely would have Jack chop my arm off so that was a good move... AND Sherri's history...Too bad .. she was an excellent villain.

2. Kim's tougher now-she can kill a man
When CTU put her in the field my wife & I were like "here we go again," but somehow she pulled it off. IMO the mountain lion from last season was the last straw.

3. The only thing worth discussing about '24' now is...
When did it officially "jump the shark"? Was it at the end of S1 when Teri got killed? Or was it the whole "Mountain Lion Incident"? Definitely somewhere in between those two. And while I watched this season, the quality and enjoyment have gone downhill rapidly. I probably won't watch next year.

4. Agreed- this was
the least plausible season yet. How is it possible that every location is within short driving distance of the other? Chase gets his hand cut off, yet 3 minutes later he is in surgery at a medical center. The drop point for the virus is just a few minutes from CTU.

The two main villainesses are dead. They are going to have to start from scratch next season. Oh yeah, and no Kate Warner. She was a hottie.

11. Hell, he got SHOT in the hand earlier...
And went on like it was just a scratch afterward. I'm sorry, but unless you are EXTREMELY lucky, a bullet is going to take out at least one bone and several tendons. You aren't going to be using that hand AT ALL that day.

Oh, and let's do a body count, shall we?
Jack's wife - Dead
Her killer - Dead
Boss from S1 - Dead
Boss from S2 & S3 - Dead
Jack's replacement - Prison for treason
President's wife - Dead
President - Essentially resigning
Jack's partner - Desk jockey, will be an infrequent guest (if he's lucky)
Jack's daughter - Kidnapped, almost killed umpteen times, beaten up by her abusive, perverted boss, steals his car, finds his dead wife in the trunk, arrested, escapes, boyfriend loses his leg, stalked by a mountain lion, trapped by a nut case, In a store during a holdup, talks guy into surrendering then watches the police kill him anyway, thinks her dad died in a nuclear explosion, kills her boss, goes to work with dad, gets kidnapped AT WORK, gets kidnapped FOR WORK.

How much does it take before you'd just say "fuck it, I quit."

6. I loved it
It is supposed to be implausible. None of the 24s have been plausible. It is just fun to watch.

I did find it humorous that on a FOX show, the bad guy presidential candidate was named John Keegan (or something similar). His campaign posters almost mirrored Kerry's posters.

I was disappointed that they didn't have Jack hooked up with Kate Warner from last season. That seemed like a very probable scenario.

I'm already looking forward to the next season!

5. Do you think the breakdown was over Claudia?
I was really bummed to hear Reiko Ailsworth won't be back next year. They finally turn her into a kick ass agent - I wish they'd change their minds over this.

And Chase isn't supposed to be back either, but then, what else could they do to his hand?

7. Which one was Reiko Ailsworth?
I hope they drop the Cloe character. She was awful.

As for Claudia, I don't think so. I think that the breakdown was over ever thing that he has had to sacrifice for his job.

10. Oh, right....
Michelle was great. I had no idea that her character is gone.

But didn't Cloe get on your nerves just a little bit?

8. Reiko's gone? That sucks
I liked Michelle-she was the anti-damsel. They should have put her in field ops next season. Too bad.

12. I liked Chloe too. . .
she seemed like a very believable computer nerd. But I'm going to miss Sherry. What a great character she was-she will be missed! I'll say this for 24--it usually keeps me sitting on the edge of my seat.

14. So why couldn't...
...Jack ask the president to pardon Tony?

That really bothered me.

Also, it really sucks that Reiko won't be back next season. She was my favorite.

15. 24? Umm. Days?
The writing died after year one. That scenario took far more than 24 hours, my friends. 24? Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.

16. Gives a new meaning to "implausible"
This was the first season that I've watched "24"; I was curious to see what I was missing after hearing a gushing NPR interview with the show's creator last fall. I wasn't impressed, it's nothing more than a contemporary version of 1940s serials like "Captain Marvel." The writing was sometimes so ludicrous that it bordered on insulting. For example, Sherri lifted a pill bottle from the dead guy's house. BFD. You don't have to be a lawyer to know that it's completely worthless as evidence. It doesn't prove she killed him, she could have lifted it from his garbage can, and of course it's covered with her fingerprints since she's been toting it around all day. But despite that the president's chief of staff commits a B & E to steal the thing. Then there's the little matter of the courier's escape from the LA subway station. You've got a guy with a weapon of mass destruction trapped in a subway station, a weapon that's already killed 1000 people, and the station exits are guarded by nothing more than a couple of beat cops? The virus could have been released in the station, yet there's no evacuation or closure of the surface streets?

The "I've got no alternative but to cut off Chase's hand" business was idiotic. We've already seen that the virus is in a glass vial in the dispersal device. The vial has to be punctured or broken to release the virus. Why didn't Jack just jam or block the plunger that breaks the vial? He could have saved the nation and Chase's hand with a popsickle stick!

Lastly, the entire Saunders - kidnaps - Michelle plot was completely ridiculous. On the spur of the moment Saunders engineers a scheme to get his daughter released, a scheme that depends on him knowing that 1) Agent Michelle is married to Tony, 2) she's immune to the virus, 3) thanks to 2 she'll be released from the hotel so he can snatch her. Right, I'm buying all that.

On second thought I think I insulted the writer of "Captain Marvel" by comparing it to "24". The old serial made more sense than "24".

17. Disappointing.
If everything else was going to be wrapped up so neatly, why not have Jack ask the president to pardon Tony?

I wanted a real cliffhanger. I know last year's and this year's had nothing to do with each other, but Tony's trial isn't enough to keep me wondering - especially since he deserves to go to jail.
