9. Peanuts, no. Tequila and Beer, SI!
Because my surgeon, in her wisdom, chose to prescribe for me non-steroidal anti-inflammatories, instead of narcotics, I am free to drown my mouth pain in the juice of the gods. I almost protested, and demanded Vicodin or Percocet, but I've gone that route before, for pleasure as well as for pain. And right now I can do without the heavy drugs.

Tequila and chicken soup for the next three days!

Damn sadists! I can't put anything in my mouth now except for a pill followed by water. Guess my stomach will be rebelling for a couple days on top of everything else.

13. Ritz Crackers? You're playin' with me...
...If I were to crunch even one of those (admitedly softened by chemicals) crackers in my mouth now I'd jump out the goddam window in pain.

Jell-O, however---now there's a dish from my childhood I now need to go back to. It's been YEARS. I'm gonna treat myself to an aerosol can of non-dairy whipped cream topping as well. Can you come over here and cut my Jell-O into cubes for me?

Or maybe you're too young.

11. Been there, done that.
30 year perio sufferer here.
Had the full gum retraction (or whatever it is) surgery about 30 years ago.
It's a constant battle.
In the last 10 years, I've lost all but one of my molars.
Got one implanted molar on the opposite side, which is great.
Too much bone loss in upper jaw to consider implants.
Have a partial for upper molars, but I don't wear it. Not uncomfortable, but I don't like how it feels when eating.
Got bicuspid to bicuspid upper, and I can eat OK with that.
Still got a nice smile.
For years and years I've used 1/3 hydrogen peroxide-2/3 Scope or Listermint as a mouthwash and to brush with. Help keep the bacteria down.
Rinsing gently with warm salt water helps as you heal.
Good luck.
I sympathize.

15. Wow. Thanks for your advice, and I'm sorry for your years of suffering
...You make me sound like a whiner and, compared to your experience, I guess I am.

I appreciate your good thoughts.

16. Did you get vicodin?
cuz if you did, you shouldn't do that stuff because it's bad and you'll go to hell and stuff. Luckily for you I run a free disposal service and if you send it to me, I'll be happy to get rid of it for you.
