Clinton and Gore.

I'll be able to add Kerry to that list after November.

6. Assuming you mean
presidents and vice presidents who held the offices at the time I saw them:

Reagan / Bush
Bush / Quayle
Clinton / Gore
Bush / Cheney

If exes count, throw in Ford, Nixon, Carter.

8. Clinton & Nixon
I saw Clinton in Pueblo in 1996 when he was running for re-election, and got within ten feet of shaking his hand before I was pushed away by the crowd.

In 1969, Nixon came to Morristown NJ to campaign for Willism Cahill, who was running for governor. I gave both of them the finger as the presidential limo drove by.

28. In the final sring before he resigned, when he was despised
everywhere, one of the few places he could still get a decent crowd was Jackson Mississippi. We couldn't get into hear him speak, so I stood around with my friends and my favorite prof and waited for the limo. I did get to see him, briefly, and was so angry I could barely focus.

15. Gore. When he was senator
he used to do these town meetings, which were very small, in different communities. I went to see him around 1989 and was just amazed at the quesions he could answer on almost anything. Shook his hand. We went to see him announce Lieberman as his running mate (people dropping like flies from the heat).

25. I was within 15 feet or so of Poppy at Logan Airport in 1980.
I was flying to Chicago; I'd guess he was en route either to or from Kennebunkport. Probably could have walked over shaken his hand, but didn't really care to. Also saw Reagan in 1984 in Boston's City Hall Plaza.

27. Carter and Clinton
I met Jimmy Carter when I was 12 years old. He had been on subs in the Navy with a man up the street. He was governor of Georgia at the time. He threw the football and played kick the can with the neighborhood kids.

I met Bill Clinton when I was a sound technician working freelance in Baltimore. Talk with him for about 5 minutes. He's a really nice guy.

34. Clinton and Gore - Election nights 1992 and 1996
I was in the huge crowds in front of the Old State House in Little Rock on both Clinton/Gore election nights - wall-to-wall people, media from all over the world, people selling t-shirts and political buttons - lots of fun. Wish Clinton could run again - he'd win.

43. Was a thrill, but this year a Kerry win will be great, too
even if I can't be there in person... Got a call today from the state Democratic Party looking for Kerry volunteers - we appear to be one of the swing states, so maybe we can be the deciding electoral votes.

I saw him speak the day after the infamous SOTU "axis of evil" speech. Very few minorities there, or few dems for that matter. I got to boo Jesse Helms in person!

I also remember seeing Hubert Humphrey when I was small.

Even attempted to buy Clinton a beer, but his agents told me no. I did shake his hand though. He was campaigning in the Village of East Davenport at the time and it was raining so he went into a drinking establishment to meet some of the folks. The others were visiting for various reasons. Reagan was raised about 60 or 70 miles from here and used to work for a local radio station. WAAAAAAAAY before my time.
