My Two Towers extended version arrived today, and I'm going to stop on my way home and pick up ROTK.

Then of course, we'll get the extended edition ROTK

AND then the accordion set of all three movies with all the bells and whistles.....

8. If I may ask, what's the price of ROTK?
And will the extended version have additional footage in it? Is it worth waiting for?

I've been waiting for it to come out because I haven't even SEEN ROTK yet! I have, however, seen FOTR and TTT at least four times each.

11. $19.99 at Borders
And hell yeah it's worth every penny!!!!

The extended edition is supposed to have a lot of new footage this time around, and if you're a fan of the books, definitely get it. EE won't be out until November though, which is a long wait, so shelling out a $20 bill for this isn't a horrible investment in the meantime.

20. Didn't Sean Astin refer to * as "an honest man" a few months ago?
I seem to recall quite a few cries of shock and horror on this board over that...

23. I'm covering my ears!
Well, yeah, he did say something to that effect on Bill Maher, but he IS a Democrat who has made a bunch of appearances on behalf of Kerry at campaign stops at high schools and stuff. He is a member of a bi-partisan White House committee thing having to do with volunteerism. I don't think he is a Bush fan, he was just being (stupidly) diplomatic in that instance.

Sean Astin was appointed to the President's Council on Service and Civic Participation at its inception. President George W. Bush announced the creation of the council in January 2003.

Wouldn't it be great if Sean went into politics and helped to save the world, just like his character Sam did?

13. I've got mine, too, O yes, Precioussss.....
I doesss....saw it twice at the movies last December (my big Christmas Day present to myself) and watched it on DVD this past weekend thanks to a friendly video-rental shop owner. Now I can't wait for the extended version. But, what am I going to look forward to this coming Christmas? For the past three years, there has been a LOTR movie released at that time. Oh, well, maybe something will surprise me. (Always the eternal optimist - ;-) )

It'll be a week longer, but I'll save a few bucks. I'm satisfied with the theatrical versions. Meanwhile, I can savour my Marx Brothers Collection.

26. RoTK
My husband picked it up this afternoon. We'll get the extended version when it comes out, but we didn't get to see this in the theater so didn't want to wait. We had just gotten back from adopting our daughter in China and she was not about to either let us out of her sight for any length of time or stay with a babysitter. And we were both so tired that the idea of going to the theater alone, leaving the other parent with the baby on their own for 4 hours just wasn't in the cards. So needless to say I can't wait to see this. He'll probably watch it on his own during the day but I'll wait until I can relax with an adult beverage or 3, so I'll watch it Saturday.
