Woman Sticks Arm Into Bear Cage - (Surprisingly) Loses Arm
:eyes:

<snip>

WEEDSPORT, N.Y. -- A woman lost part of her arm when she reached into the cage of two Chinese Himalayan bears.

Brooke Bessette, 22, was able to free herself after being grabbed by one of the bears Sunday, but suffered severe injuries to her lower arm, Cayuga County Sheriff Robert Outhouse said.

Her arm was amputated below the elbow. She was in good condition Monday at a Syracuse-area hospital.

The attack took place at a "private zoo," the Cayuga County sheriff's office said. Authorities were looking into possible trespassing charges.

3. Kids, let this be a lesson to all of us. Don't feed the bears
any of your own body parts.

There are times I wonder if we should be testing people before letting them go outside. Then there are times I think the libertarians are right and we should abolish all safety warnings, systems and special equipment so idiots will not survive to breeding age. :eyes:

6. There was a bear handler
at the Cincinnati zoo a few years back...stuck her arm in a polar bear cage and (surprisingly) got it ripped off. Then she sued the zoo...:eyes:

She lost. :P

9. What Is It With People At Zoos?
This is about the 4th incident in the last 2 years of people getting hurt or killed because of attacks by animals when they ventured into the cage area.

Hey idiots! They are WILD ANIMALS! They're not cute and cuddly pets!

16. I blame Walt Disney
Disney created this imaginary world where all animals are kind and gentle, loving creatures.

Between the Wonderful World of Disney cartoons and "real life" movies ... "Fuzzy the Wayward Polar Bear" type of crapola they have a whole generation thinking that wild animals are all just gentle creatures that could live among us if only we understood them better.

Disney never quite got around to showing one "gentle creature" ripping out the throat or crushing the head of another for food.

Sadly, some people have a hard time differentiating between the imaginary and real. It sounds like this woman is one of them.

14. Intelligence IS an evolutionary plus.
People like this demonstrate why intelligence is identified as an aid to evolution. It makes me wonder if she has produced any offspring, and if so, are they in better shape than she is...

17. Stupid idiot - deserves to have her arm taken off
I remember back in the 80s some assmunch walked into the polar bear cage at the Madison Zoo in WI and was mauled. And instead of the security dudes letting the bear eat his meal, they killed it to stop the mauling.

What a waste of a beautiful animal that's just doing what it is made to do.

Assholes who think animals are playthings deserve to be left to die.

Man Pets Jaguar, Pays with His Finger

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (Reuters) - A New Mexico man made a hasty exit from a zoo after climbing close to a cage to illegally pet a jaguar, but police were able to track him down by the severed finger he left behind.

The shriveled and dried finger from the man's right hand was found outside the cat cage last week by a groundskeeper, Tom Silva, assistant director of the Albuquerque Biological Park, which includes the zoo, said on Tuesday.

21. Trespassing charges
It sounds to me as though the bears already leveled their own trespassing charges. That should be lesson enough.
