List 7 favorite CCR songs
That's it. Can't name just one, and if I ask you to name any more than 7, you probably couldn't stop. :P

Here's mine:

1. "Effigy" - from 'Willy and the Poor Boys'
2. "Fortunate Son" - from 'Willy and the Poor Boys'
3. "Tombstone Shadow" - from 'Green River'
4. "Penthouse Pauper" - from 'Bayou Country'
5. "Bad Moon Rising" - from 'Green River'
6. "Ramble Tamble" - from 'Cosmo's Factory'
7. "It Came Out of the Sky" - from 'Willy and the Poor Boys'

Yeah, like that's a definitive and permanent list. :eyes:

4. Here's my list...
No particular order:

Fortunate Son
Green River
Born on the Bayou
Suzie Q
Travlin' Band
Lookin' Out my Back Door
I Put a Spell On You *

* They must have been channelin' Screamin' Jay Hawkins when they recorded this. Such an evil mojo - either that, or Italian Swiss Colony Muscatel: the inspiration behind the Screamin' Jay version.

8. Only seven, eh?
I was a college dj and for two years did a two hour "Rock of the 60s" radio show...CCR I played a song or two of every time, of course the 60s albums only (although I "cheated" and included 1970 too!)
My faves were/are:
I Put a Spell on You
Porterville
Born on the Bayou
Ramble Tamble
Up Around the Bend
Keep on Chooglin"
Run Through the Jungle

(Of course I love guitar and loved CCR's very distinct sound, that's why I liked the more jamming songs..."Susie Q" and "I Heard it Through the Grapevine" were good too but went on a little bit long IMHO so they're not in my top seven!)

Honorable mention goes to "Brown Eyed Girl" from the "pre-CCR" Golliwogs album...No, not the Van Morrison song, more along the lines of "Three Blind Mice"!

9. Only seven? You are one stern taskmaster!

But what the hell....

1. FORTUNATE SON - Thirty-five years later, the lyrics still resonate.

2. BAD MOON RISING - It may have been written about the 1968 election of Richard Nixon, but I've found myself humming it a lot since November 2000.

3. GREEN RIVER - "Barefoot girls dancin' in the moonlight."

4. LODI - Self-pity has rarely sounded this good! Think Charlene's "I've Never Been To Me," and you'll see what I mean! :scared:

5. PROUD MARY - For a Californian, John Fogerty sure paints a vivid picture of life on the Mississippi!

6. TRAVELIN' BAND - Best Little Richard knockoff since the Beatles sang "I'm Down."

7. IT CAME OUT OF THE SKY - Best damned rockabilly tune since the heyday of Carl Perkins! My favorite line: "Ronnie the Popular said it was a communist plot."

10. Sorry, only the major hits..
ie. (in no particular order)
Fortunate Son
Born on the Bayou
Down on the Corner
Have you ever seen the Rain
Who'll Stop the Rain
Bad Moon Rising

I used to have a recording of John Fogerty's concert at Roskilde Festival in 1997, but alas I can't find it anymore. Two special things about this concert:
1) The rain was absolutely pouring down - yet, for a few moments, while John was performing "Who'll stop the Rain", it suddently stopped. Of course, once the song was over, the rain resumed.
2) He was playing on the main stage, which is an open air (all the others are inside tents), and at the start of the concert, there was an estimated 5,000 people in the audience (not much, considering that Metallica had about 60-70,000 at last years concert the same place) However, even though it was raining so much, by the time the concert was over, there was an estimated 10,000 in front of the stage.

Oh, and the set list in cases of curiousity:
Born On The Bajou
Green River
Bring It Down
Wholl Stop The Rain?
The Midnight Special
110 In The Shade
Before U Accuse Me
Old MAn Down The Road
Blueboy
Walking In A Hurricane
Bad Moon Rising
Fortunate Son
Proud Mary
