Spent a week with a Freep.

Though this guy hadn't heard of free republic everyone warned me, including his son, that he was ultra right wing.

Well it started during the ride from the airport. We were both in the back seat and he says "I can't believe you are a democrat". (someone must have said something about me to him) I turned to him and said don't start Jimmy, I'm not in the mood and we will both end up in a fistfight before we get to the hotel. That ended it for the time but then, the next day, we are driving back from Hoover Dam and he says something about Niggers. I couldn't believe it and I said "What did you say?" "Did you actually say that?", "Christ, I haven't heard that name used like that in 10 years". Well, he gets all defensive about how bad it is where he lives and how they live everywhere and have this attitude toward him cause he's white and all the usual shit these people spout. Then he says that I should live where he does but that maybe he should move near me. I said "Jesus, don't do that because then I would have to move". LOL Everyone else in the car cracked up.

I think I really threw him off because I didn't fit his liberal mold. A liberal to him hates guns, is wimpy, lives of government programs, and all the rest of the usual stereotype. He knows I used to hunt, have a couple of guns, a DOD contractor and was very in his face when he said outrageous things.

To sum it up it was a strange week and we did have some meaningful conversation even kind of hanging out. He wanted to know my opinions and said he did have an open mind. He got real civil with me and he surprised me also. He did say that he couldn't stand the repugs or the democrats but was really pissed about the patriot Act.

All in all,I got the impression that he would not be pulling any lever for shrub in the fall.

He's telling me that he was hungry and stopped at a place like TGIF, I can't remember which one but it doesn't matter. Said it was in a black neighborhood and all the patrons (my word not his) were staring at him like what are you doing here white boy. (I'm not kidding) So I said that I thought that his senses were working overtime and he needed to chill a bit. He said"I trust my senses and that has kept me alive".
This guy was hard core.

I can out fight, out shoot or out drink most of the bitter cocksuckers on FR.
I am not a typical liberal, at least what this type thinks of as a liberal, at all.
I love shooting guns, I can scrap it up and down beers like a fraternity member. But I am pro-labor, pro-equality and pro-common sense, so I cannot join the GOP.
