Coca-Cola C2 -HALF the carbs, calories, and sugar
Welcome to the low-carb century, it's official.

A bottle of the low-carbohydrate, low sugar Coca-Cola C2 cola soft drink is shown at reception after the brand's United States introduction in Hollywood May 24, 2004. Coca-Cola C2 will have half the carbohydrates and half the calories and sugar of regular Coca-Cola and will be available in retail outlets in the United States in early June 2004. You know it's good because Ryan Seacrest (AND Paula Abdul in other photos) are promoting it.

2. Since they're taking ingredients out, it will be more expensive.
Yeah, that makes sense. :silly:

4. Does anyone smell a "New Coke" round of executive firings coming?
No the low carb crowd will probably buy it up. It's like the new Amway.

3. Coca-Cola doesn't have sugar.
Well, not cane sugar.

It's sweetened with high-fructose corn syrup, which is why it tastes like a monkey's ass. Wait till Passover, then go somewhere with a good selection of Kosher foods -- that's the ONLY time you'll find Coke made with sugar (in the U.S. anyway).

5. You can still buy Dr. Pepper made with Imperial Cane Sugar here in TX.
But you have to hunt for it.

8. Ahh...Dr. Pepper
I miss that drink, but ever since the Carlyle Group bought it up, I stopped drinking it.
I wish I was kidding.
(Please prove me wrong, I want to start drinking it again)

11. I think they just unveiled it today
Edited on Mon May-24-04 03:28 PM by underpants
Surely they tested it first. My in-laws live in a test market city (Roanoke Va.) and they see items months to years before everyone else does but I haven't heard anything about this from them.

16. Funny thing that! I saw a low-carb salad dressing the other day
1 Gram per serving

The regular version of the same dressing by the same manufacturer.

1 Gram per serving

19. 1 gram of carbs per serving on both types
basically an identical product.

Unless I'm not detecting some form of sarcasm, in which case the low-carb version was really just C-rations blended into a paste and bottled.

an idiot for spending a dollar a can on something that costs .00002c to manufacture!

OH GOODY!

18. See, I was almost on board with this one.
...But then I discovered it wouldn't be clear. Who wants to drink that many chemicals if it isn't clear?!? :D

I miss the days when everything was becoming clear in the soda world. Crystal Pepsi, where have you gone? :P

What'll the next wave of soda-messin' be? Robbstrodamus is predicting some kind of binary-fusing system where you break a seal and combine two ingredients in a central chamber, where they suddenly get all carbonated right in front of your eyes!!!!

Good lord, that would actually sell, wouldn't it? :eyes:
